The Problem: An Alarming Pipeline that Fuels Trafficking & Re-Entry

At Heart for Freedom, we noticed something alarming, a painful reality beneath the surface of our communities: a pipeline where vulnerable young lives with a lack of identity, vision for the future, and the resources to know where to start, are being funneled towards poverty and a life on the streets, exposing them to the horrors of trafficking and exploitation that come with it. We couldn't stand idly by and do nothing.

So thus began the development of a trauma-led work force program, where we plan to provide the same love and chance on individuals, the same way that a community leader had taken a chance on our very own organizational founder. The day that an employer recognized Julie’s leadership value, instead of her sexuality, and the day that she was not required to perform or take her clothes off to make money or to meet a need, was a day that changed the trajectory of her story forever. It is with this adversity and personal healing journey that we will confidently stand behind what has been developed to help individuals recognize their God-given potential, providing opportunities for them, and the guidance, and love that they need to succeed. In a world that often overlooks their success, we are committed to fostering an environment where everyone can DREAM to achieve their fullest potential.

Building a Comprehensive Program

The result is a comprehensive program that will work directly with trafficking victims, preparing them for job readiness as well as inside several organizations working together to support the transition of vulnerable populations that are statistically at a greater exposure to trafficking and exploitation. The program will involve the most significant emotional tools that a trauma survivor needs to navigate among several things, the impact of PTSD and their mental health, trauma triggers, and using their adverse experiences inside the traditional workspace to overcome their fears, challenges with offense and the emotional behaviors needed to navigate within a team.
