Dear Friends,
I’m asking for your support as I work to raise $2,000 for the Walk for Widows Worldwide Campaign, which provides vital care for widows locally and around the world in recognition of International Widows Day on June 23, 2026.
I’ve committed to walking 20 kilometers to raise funds for two incredible ministries that serve widows with compassion and hope: Healing at the Well and The White Rainbow Project
I am walking in memory of my husband, Richard, who passed away on New Year’s Eve in 2023. Richard was a true "go-getter", always active, driven, and full of life. He had been living with congestive heart failure for several years, but after a fall about eight months before he passed, his health began to decline rapidly. Watching someone so strong lose their independence during that difficult season was incredibly hard.
I am participating in this walk to honor Richard’s life and to stand with other women who understand this journey. Being part of a community that supports widows means so much to me.
I am walking on behalf of widows like Sarah, whose life was suddenly turned upside down when her husband John was killed in a car accident, leaving her to care for three young children.
I am also walking for Mala, a young woman in India who was beaten and burned by her in-laws because they believed she brought bad karma and was responsible for her husband’s death. (Watch Mala's story here.)
These women—and so many others—deserve care, dignity, and support. Would you please consider joining me in this effort so their stories can be met with hope and healing?
Thank you for standing with widows everywhere.
With gratitude,
Helen
