Electrolysis is a vital, gender-affirming procedure, but in the Greater Sacramento area, accessible and affirming providers are few. Long waitlists, high costs, and non-affirming experiences force many trans and non-binary people to travel far outside the region or go without care altogether.

We’re changing that.

With support from the Stonewall Foundation of Greater Sacramento, we’re launching a first-of-its-kind electrolysis workforce development program that not only provides affirming care, but builds it from within the trans community. Beginning in 2026, each year, we will fully support one Queer, trans, or gender-diverse person in becoming a licensed electrologist through a workforce development program that covers tuition, supplies, and licensing fees. Graduates will receive mentorship, small business guidance, and the opportunity to launch their practice at the Gender Health Center with one year of free office space.

This is more than a service, it’s a pathway to healing, economic empowerment, and community care.

Electrology training programs can range in cost from $10,950 to $11,800 including tuition, student kits, uniform, shoes, optical magnifying glasses
Cost of Licensure: $125
Food: $1,000 during training
Lodging: $5,000 during training
Travel Expenses: $500 during training
Total Cost per student: Approximately $18,000 per student
