Embracing Our Minds

AALEAD is hosting its fourth annual Mental Health Education Series in partnership with AAHI & PCC! This year’s theme “Embracing Our Minds” aims to recognize these struggles, reassure you that things will be okay, and find ways to embrace one’s mind to take care of yourself. We will be focusing on topics such as finding joyful healthy habits, dealing with difficult emotions, understanding generational differences in Asian Americans, supporting others through tough times, talking about family concerns, and seeking professional help in Eastern or Western ways.

Youth who attend all three sessions will be eligible to win a grand prize of Airpod Pros - 2nd gen! They will also have the opportunity to earn a stipend of $50 OR SSL hours for attending all three sessions. Parents & Family Members who attend will receive AALEAD merchandise and informative resources about mental health. We will also give away raffle prizes at the end of each session for all participants (adults and youth)!

This program is FREE to the public. The sessions will be led by AALEAD staff, community volunteers, and mental health experts! Youth and families can expect a hands-on learning experience about healthy wellness habits, making friends with other youth while discussing mental health, and participating in fun and new activities (acting, art therapy, music therapy, movement therapy, etc.). Bring your family and friends!

Participants must identify as AAPI and be a resident of Montgomery County in order to attend. Youth that are eligible to attend are in grades 5-10 (ages 10-15). Parents, caregivers, or family members who are not AAPI may attend if accompanying a youth who identifies as AAPI.

Time: 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM; Lunch will be provided

Dates: You will be expected to attend all three workshops to earn the various prizes offered.
