The Enloe High School Band program is built on passion, talent, and an extraordinary commitment from students—but not on funding.

Each year, our program receives just $1,000 in state funding. That doesn’t even begin to cover the true cost of running a nationally competitive band program. With an annual budget of $250,000–$300,000, nearly everything—travel, instruction, and equipment—is made possible through student fees and the tireless work of our Band Boosters and community.

And right now, we are facing a critical need: our instruments.

Many of the instruments our students rely on are aging, worn down, and in serious need of repair or replacement. These are not small inconveniences—these limitations directly impact how our students sound, how they perform, and how far they can go.

What makes this even more challenging is that there is no dedicated funding for instruments or equipment. Every repair, every replacement, every opportunity depends entirely on donations.

Yet despite these barriers, our students continue to rise.

They rehearse for hours, push themselves creatively, and strive to compete at a national level. And the truth is—music is doing far more for them than preparing for performances.

Research shows that students involved in music:

Score up to 20–22% higher in math and English compared to their peers
Are 20% more likely to excel academically and often maintain higher GPAs
Score 100+ points higher on SATs on average
Develop stronger memory, focus, and problem-solving skills that impact every subject
Build confidence, connection, and a sense of belonging that keeps students engaged in school

Music education doesn’t just create musicians—it creates stronger students, leaders, and thinkers.

But no matter how talented or dedicated our students are, they cannot outplay broken or outdated instruments.

We believe every student deserves an instrument that matches their potential—one that allows them to grow, to perform with confidence, and to represent Enloe at the highest level.
