A Message from Stuart

Over my adult years, and with the help of inquisitive people, I have come to understand that so much of the History we learned in school was...just wrong, or at best incomplete. For example, the truth about Alan Turing: he broke the code to help win WWII but died labeled as a criminal for the exposed truth of his sexuality. Or learning about Bayard Rustin, the gay black man who led organizing the 1963 Civil Rights March on Washington. These people, and so many others, did not fit the mold of what we expected to be change-makers, yet they existed – but not in our schoolbooks. I wish that my education taught me that folks like these existed and mattered. I cannot imagine the difference it could have made towards my own positive development in those formative years. Can you imagine the difference it would have made to you as well? It's for that reason I believe that History UnErased’s mission of teaching a more complete history, ensures future generations have a more complete understanding of our nation's story, of who we are as an LGBTQ community, and how we have arrived to our present day. Every child deserves to be educated and educated completely.

The Bell Tower event on March 10th was so engaging and empowering that we are offering the virtual Eternal Pride event to ensure more people learn about this groundbreaking organization. Please celebrate the work that History UnErased is doing, and help support their mission through giving and/or attending the virtual event on March 27th.
