A Call to Action for Black Farmers United - NYS

Black Farmers United - New York State (BFU-NYS) is on a mission to transform agriculture and food systems for Black farmers and underserved communities. Through our "25 Forward: Growing Impact, Changing Lives" campaign, we aim to raise $250,000 to expand our programs, support Black farmers, and create lasting change in food justice and sustainability.

The Challenge We Face

Black farmers in New York face systemic barriers, including limited land access, inequitable funding, and challenges in securing resources for sustainable farming. Despite these obstacles, BFU-NYS has been a champion for farmers, advocating for policy changes, providing technical assistance, and ensuring that Black growers have a voice in the agricultural landscape.

However, the need for support has never been greater. With shifting economic conditions and reduced public funding for small-scale farmers, community-driven solutions are essential. BFU-NYS is stepping up to meet this moment—but we need your help.

Our Plan for Impact

Funds raised through the "25 Forward" campaign will directly support:

Green Futures Program: Expanding urban agriculture education in schools, teaching students sustainable food-growing techniques.
Sowing Seeds Advocacy: Strengthening our efforts in policy, education, and legislative action to secure resources for Black farmers.
Bridging Land, Agriculture, and Communities Conference (BLACC): Hosting the first statewide Black agriculturalist conference to empower and connect farmers, advocates, and policymakers.
Farmer Support and Capacity Building: Offering grants, workshops, and mentorship to help Black farmers grow their businesses and land ownership.
