Why We Cycle:

We started LIVESTRONG at the Soundview Family YMCA in 2022 because we recognized a quiet but powerful need in our own community. As staff, we saw members walking through our doors who had survived cancer but were still carrying the physical and emotional weight of treatment - fatigue, isolation, loss of strength, and uncertainty about what came next. We realized that fitness alone wasn’t the answer; connection, understanding, and a safe space to rebuild confidence were just as important. We wanted to create more than a class - we wanted to offer a supportive community where survivors could regain strength at their own pace, feel seen without explanation and rediscover what their bodies are capable of. Bringing this program to Soundview was our way of saying: you are not alone here, and your recovery deserves a place, a plan and people who believe in you. We are going on four years and growing…fast!
