Dear Friend of FAC,

The Fashion Arts Collective is a nonprofit supporting aspiring fashion designers right here in the Midwest with professional equipment, workspaces, technical expertise, networking, and entrepreneurship mentoring. The fashion industry is highly competitive and without these much-needed resources provided by the Fashion Arts Collective, many fashion designers and students simply cannot compete.

Fashion designer Sydney Moore started designing collections at age 12. Without the FAC workroom complete with industrial sewing equipment, dress forms, donated fabrics, notions, and a salon for meeting clients, Sydney’s artistic vision might not have been realized. “FAC has given me space to create and learn from fellow designers and entrepreneurs. Over time I have developed my label and have learned so much all within the walls of FAC.” Now 23, Sydney is a well-known designer creating her sustainable fashions.

From the designing to the creation to the building blocks of entrepreneurship, FAC designers benefit from industry professionals in gaining technical expertise, and business acumen.

FAC offers children’s and adult sewing classes and fashion workshops designed to increase skills and provide support. FAC is dedicated to its community and is utilized by numerous nonprofit partners such as Healing Ribbons, an indigenous group who heal trauma by sewing tribal regalia, and the Kent Bellows Mentoring Program where high school students explore fashion as art. FAC has contributed to the community by sewing over 10,000 masks during the pandemic and is also active in fashion and textile design curriculum at area high school advisory boards.

Professional designer, Buf Reynolds, explains, “Having a place like the Fashion Arts Collective is so important to the fashion community in Omaha. I wish I had access to a space like this when I was younger. It offers an amazing learning opportunity for young designers to create professional-grade garments, as well as the opportunity for veteran designers to keep learning new skills and growing their brands. FAC is such a benefit to the community.”

And that’s where you come in. For over 15 years, the Fashion Arts Collective has provided a free space where students, the public, and fashion designers can collaborate and create. But we simply can’t do it without your support.
