4Roots Farm Chats: Mike Garcia of Everoak Farm

An Intro to Agroforestry

Join us at 4Roots Farm for an engaging conversation with Mike Garcia, owner and operator of Everoak Farm in Orlando.

As a self-taught, first-generation farmer, Mike has built his farm around the principles of sustainable agriculture and regenerative farming, drawing on his background in the culinary arts and a deep respect for nature’s design.

In this session, Mike will introduce the fundamentals of agroforestry: a land management approach that integrates trees, crops, and livestock to create more resilient and productive ecosystems.

Topics will include:

What agroforestry is and how it works
How Everoak Farm applies agroforestry principles
Techniques such as alley cropping, forest farming, and silvopasture
The agroforestry framework and effective management strategies
The benefits of agroforestry for soil health, biodiversity, and food production
How to get started creating your own market garden with agroforestry in mind

Whether you’re a grower, gardener, or simply curious about sustainable food systems, this Farm Chat offers an inspiring look at how farming in harmony with nature can lead to healthier soil, stronger ecosystems, and a more regenerative future.

Meet the Speaker

Mike Garcia is the owner/operator of Everoak Farm: a small, bio-intensive and regenerative family farm in the heart of Orlando.

As a self-taught first-generation farmer with a deep-rooted passion for sustainable agriculture and regenerative farming practices, Mike’s journey began in the culinary world, where he honed his skills and expertise through formal training at culinary school and over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry.

Driven to reconnect with the land and foster a more sustainable food system, Mike transitioned from the kitchen to the fields, embracing a holistic approach to farming rooted in agroecology.

Drawing inspiration from nature's wisdom, Mike practices agroecology, integrating bio-intensive market gardening, agroforestry, pasture poultry, and composting to cultivate healthy, nutrient-rich soil and promote biodiversity on his farm.
