15 Years of Rolling Forward: Building the Future of FCW

Franklinton Cycle Works has never been just a bike shop. For 15 years, it has been a place where bicycles break down barriers, where neighbors come together, and where community is built one repair, one ride, and one relationship at a time.

The past year tested FCW in ways no one expected—a car accident that damaged the building, months of slowed traffic, and financial hurdles facing nonprofits everywhere. Yet in true FCW spirit, challenges became opportunities. When the shop was hit, the community rallied—packing an event at Landgrant in a show of support that reminded everyone how much this work matters. And when repairs were complete, the building emerged stronger, brighter, and more welcoming, now adorned with large-scale murals by local artists and on its way to a new green space that will transform the block.

FCW has also reintroduced itself with a fresh new brand—colorful, playful, and true to its mission. And in the middle of transition, new leadership stepped up with resilience and vision, ready to guide the next chapter.

The road ahead is full of possibilities and opportunities. Plans are already underway to expand educational programming, create new revenue streams that sustain our social enterprise model, and deepen partnerships with businesses and organizations across Columbus. Every new initiative will mean more people gaining access to reliable transportation, more youth learning essential skills, and more community members finding connection through bicycles.

But none of this happens alone. The next 15 years depend on the strength of partners and donors who believe in this work. By giving, sponsoring, or sharing FCW’s story, you can help ensure that thousands more people have access to bikes, skills, and community.

$50 – Provides safety accessories like lights and helmets
$100 – Maintains a set of community workstations for a week
$250 – Funds a full month of bike repair classes
$350 – Bike, helmet, lock and a light to keep someone rolling
$500 – Refurbishes 5 donated bikes for new riders
$1,000 – Supports one month of community shop operations
