Meeting Women Where They Are Doesn't Mean Material Goods. Does that shock you?

Being in the field with so many women facing unplanned pregnancies has given the staff and team members here at Family Life Services invaluable insights into what women are seeking during these unsettling moments. A licensed healthcare professional does the procedure.

Here's What We've Learned

Most women seek medical attention after discovering they are carrying life, which brings them to our clinic. Less than 1% of those women will return to Family Life Services for material goods.

The women we are honored to serve desperately seek sound, trustworthy, and knowledgeable professionals to discuss their decisions without judgment more than they ask for material goods.

Most of the population we serve here in Washtenaw County are college students. After seeking advice from counselors and friends, most students are directed to places like Planned Parenthood for free and confidential medical support. Where they often have no idea abortion is on the agenda. They believe they are receiving affordable, slide-scale healthcare. The healthcare professional is trusted as unbiased.

Most of these women don't have a primary care physician or feel unsafe going to the family doctor. They are anxious and want to speak to a healthcare professional right away. Planned Parenthood has active clinic hours five days a week, whereas Family Life Services can only provide clinic hours three days a week. This creates a gap in meeting the needs of women desperately searching for answers—a missed opportunity.
