Every photograph holds a whole life.

One look can bring back the welcome at the door, the sound of familiar footsteps and the quiet comfort of having them close. On an ofrenda, that photograph becomes part of something larger, a place where love, memory and family come together.

Rooted in Mexican tradition, Día de los Muertos remembers and celebrates loved ones through photographs, flowers and ofrendas. It makes room for grief and joy to exist together and reminds us that those we love remain part of our lives through memory.

For the second year, Friends of El Paso Animal Services will create a community pet ofrenda at the Mexican American Cultural Center in celebration of Día de los Muertos.

With a $5 memorial contribution, you may submit one photograph and the name of one beloved pet. Together, these photographs will create a shared tribute to the animal companions who filled our homes and changed our lives.

Photo submissions close October 13 so every tribute can be prepared before the ofrenda opens at the MACC.

Your contribution also supports the work of Friends of EPAS, allowing the memory of a pet you loved to help create hope for a shelter pet who still needs it.

Welcome their memory to our ofrenda. Con amor, we celebrate the companions who remain siempre con nosotros. Always with us.

Always With Us

Honor a beloved pet. Help another find their way home.
