Spring of 2025, our council held a Camporall at the Field of Dreams, and I watched one Scout absolutely light up in a way I’ll never forget. They had been a little unsure about camping away from home, but the moment we stepped onto that field, everything changed.

They jumped right into the service project—hauling brush, cleaning shelves, and helping restore a trail area used by visitors. When we finished, they looked up at me and said, “I didn’t know I could do something that actually helps my neighbors.” You could see the pride all over their face.

Later that day, they put on a borrowed baseball jersey, walked out of where the corn would stand in the fall, and played a baseball game on the most iconic field in America. They kept saying, “I’m playing where the movie and real players play!” And that night, they sat under the stars with friends, camped right there at the Field of Dreams, and watched the movie for the very first time—laughing and completely soaking it in.

By the end of the weekend, that Scout had grown in confidence, teamwork, and excitement for Scouting. They told their parents it was “the best weekend ever” and couldn’t wait for the next big adventure.

Moments like that—where kids discover something new about themselves—are exactly why I support Friends of Scouting. Because without the resources of the council, weekends like that just wouldn’t happen.

Friends of Scouting 2026

Friends of Scouting is our council’s annual “fuel-the-adventure” campaign. Every gift goes straight into things families actually feel: stronger programs, more hands-on activities for youth, safer equipment, trained leaders, and expanded camp experiences.
