I’m a Californian by birth, chemist and plant scientist at heart. The ability of the natural world to produce such complex and varied molecules continues to fascinate me, and I’m intrigued in how medicinal plants and natural products can show us new compounds that impact human, animal, plant, and environmental health. I am currently an assistant professor at Penn State University, with a diverse research team that blends field work with laboratory experiments, chemistry and biology and computational work. We are engaged in ethnobotany partnerships both here in the US as well as internationally, to develop research projects that are both guided by and in service to the communities who use and protect these plants. When not in the lab, I enjoy the wilderness, traveling, and am an avid photographer.
