Our History:

Our story begins with a closed door, one that a group of trailblazing women in finance refused to accept. In 1956, a group of eight Wall Street women were denied membership in a men's professional association, so they blazed their own path and founded the Financial Women’s Association. In doing so, they boldly opened their own doors, for themselves and for every woman who would follow.

That same trailblazing spirit has driven the FWA for decades, paving the way forward for members to advance their careers, connect with industry professionals, gain insight from influential leaders, and to give back by empowering the next generation. FWA provides a community that stays with you, no matter where your career takes you.

Today, the FWA story continues stronger than ever, with inspiring events, mentorships, scholarships, and professional development programs. Every FWA initiative reaffirms our commitment to the continued success, leadership, and empowerment of women in finance.

Calling all Past, Present, and Future Leaders

This Women's History Month, we honor nearly 70 years of remarkable contributions by women in our organization. We also celebrate YOU and your impact. We are asking each of our members to donate just $25 to help us continue paving the way forward.

As a token of our appreciation, all donors will receive free access to one of our virtual events in 2025.
