Meet April, a Faith Through Fire Beneficiary.

April was 35 years old when she received the devastating news—she had breast cancer. As a young mother of two, she was overwhelmed by the fear and uncertainty that came with her diagnosis. The treatments were grueling, but the emotional toll was even harder. She found herself feeling lost, anxious, and isolated from the life she once knew.

That's when April found Faith Through Fire. Through our mentorship program, she was paired with a survivor who had walked the same path. The guidance, support, and friendship she received helped her face each day with renewed strength and hope. It was her weekend stay at the House of Hope that truly helped to transform her healing journey.

"I remember arriving at the House of Hope feeling completely drained," April recalls. "But as soon as I stepped through the doors, I felt a sense of peace I hadn’t experienced in months. The quiet, the beauty of nature, and the time to just breathe and reflect—it was exactly what I needed to start healing emotionally."

During her time in the Faith Through Fire Mentorship Program, April connected with other survivors and learned how to navigate life after cancer. In our new survivorship boot-camp she learned skills to over come and move past the trauma of breast cancer. It is through all the support and resources she received that she gained a new perspective on her journey and the confidence to face whatever comes next.

Today, April is thriving. In addition to becoming a monthly donor, she plans to support others on their breast cancer journey and become a survivor mentor when she's eligible. "Faith Through Fire gave me more than just resources, connection, or a place to rest; they gave me hope. And that hope has carried me through."
