Celebrate the colors of autumn with the Catskill Center and eco artist Courtney Dudley during a hands-on natural dye workshop at the Catskills Visitor Center. Using fall leaves, bark, nuts, and other locally sourced natural materials, participants will explore how the changing landscape of the Catskills can be transformed into beautiful colors and botanical prints.

Time: 12:00 PM- 3:00 PM

Tickets: $100 per person

Location: The Catskills Visitor Center

Courtney will introduce participants to the art and science of natural dyeing, including which fabrics work best and how to properly prepare them for dye. The group will experiment with different fall dye materials and learn techniques for extracting color from the natural world.

Participants will also try eco printing and bundle dyeing, using leaves and other botanicals to create intricate patterns and one-of-a-kind designs. Each participant will leave with their own hand-dyed 26” square 100% mulberry silk scarf, along with a natural dye booklet filled with information and techniques for continuing to experiment at home.

Advance registration is required. A $100 fee applies.

Included in the workshop:

Homegrown and sustainably harvested local dye flowers (subject to availability), foraged fall leaves, and other natural dye materials
One scoured and mordanted 26” square 100% mulberry silk scarf per participant
Natural dye informational booklet

Please Note: Pets are not permitted at Catskill Center programs and events with the exception of trained service animals assisting their handlers.
