Cultivating our Future: The Farming in Harmony Campaign

Dear Neighbors of San Luis Obispo County's North Coast,

Welcome to the Community Farm Land Conservancy, Inc. (CFLC). We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to permanently protecting the historic, yet vulnerable, agricultural lands of California's Central Coast.

Instead of waiting for development pressures to fracture our rural landscapes, we are proactively building Community Farms that are multi-use regional agricultural hubs.

Our goal is to acquire historic North Coast farmlands and transition them into vibrant community spaces that balance sustainable commercial farming, civic volunteerism, K-12 STEM education, research and innovation and local food security.

We are building the financial foundation to move swiftly when target properties become available--and we need your help to establish our community's first agricultural hub!

The Vision: What is a Community Farm Hub?

Each property CFLC acquires will be managed as a diverse regional ecosystem divided into distinct functional zones:

Agronomic Research & Innovation: Partnering with regional colleges and universities to provide dedicated acreage for cutting-edge agricultural research. These living laboratories will study crop resilience, advanced soil health techniques, and localized water conservation methods to protect the future of Central Coast farming.
Sustainable Agriculture & Local Leases: Providing affordable land access to independent local farmers utilizing low-till, water-saving, conservation farming, agrivoltaic farming and rotational grazing methods.
Education & STEM Literacy: Hosting outdoor classrooms and farm plots for local school districts, bringing hands-on agricultural literacy and nutrition science to life for K-12 students.
Food Security & Harvest Distribution: Routing fresh, sustainably grown produce directly into our local ecosystem via regional food banks, local farmers markets, and farm-to-table restaurant partners.
Grassroots Civic Volunteerism: Creating a shared space for neighborhood volunteer farm days, harvest festivals, public trails, and inclusive community garden plots tailored for seniors and special needs individuals.

How to Support the Campaign Today

We have structured our capital campaign to protect your financial liquidity while maximizing our organizational purchasing power. There are three ways you can join us right now:

1. Make a Conditional Funding Pledge (Anchor & Grassroots Capital)

To negotiate competitively for historic properties, CFLC must demonstrate verified Proof of Funds to land sellers. You can make a binding commitment that keeps your money safely in your hands until the right property is secured.

How it works: Email us at info@FarmingInHarmony.org to request a Philanthropic Pledge Agreement via DocuSign.
Liquidity Protection: Your pledged funds stay entirely in your possession and are strictly contingent on CFLC entering a formal contract on a property meeting our strict conservation criteria.
The Capital Call: Your pledged capital is only called and transferred directly into a bank-administered escrow account once a property acquisition contract is officially signed.

2. Become a Monthly Sustaining Member (On This Site)

While property acquisition relies on our pledge framework, we need small amounts of active funding to keep CFLC operating efficiently behind the scenes.

Join the "Friends of CFLC": Use the donation panel on this GiveButter page to set up a small, recurring monthly contribution (e.g., $5 to $50).
What it funds: 100% of these gifts directly cover immediate operational, legal, administrative, and software overhead costs, keeping our all-volunteer network moving forward until our first land acquisition.
Please note: Direct gifts made on this site are non-refundable due to the processing fees incurred.

3. Share the Mission

Help us build overwhelming community buy-in. Please share this GiveButter page and our mission with your family, friends, neighbors, and local Central Coast businesses.

Building a Lasting Community Legacy

When you support CFLC, your participation doesn't stop at a donation. True to our Grassroots Sweat-Equity Framework, our future farm hubs will feature permanent artistic installations like the Harmony Legacy Wall. This space will celebrate not just major academic and philanthropic partners, but also our grassroots micro-donors and members of our "100+ Hours Volunteer Club."

Together, we can safeguard our productive soils, pioneer climate-resilient farming techniques, and grow a healthier, more self-sufficient food system for generations to come.

Thank you for partnering with the Community Farm Land Conservancy to keep Farming in Harmony alive and thriving.
