Distance: 4 miles (out and back)

Elevation Gain: 705 feet

Kick off the New Year with a scenic winter adventure through the Catskills! This classic hike will take us through a variety of forest habitats, across a stream via a bridge, and ultimately to Codfish Point, where expansive views of the Hudson Valley await.

Along the way, Dan will share insights into the area's rich natural and human history, offering an opportunity to connect with the landscape while enjoying the beauty of the Catskills in winter.

This hike is suitable for beginners who are prepared for winter conditions. While the elevation gain is relatively modest, rocky terrain and potentially icy or snowy trails make this a moderately challenging hike.

What to Bring: Water, snacks, sturdy winter hiking footwear, and warm, moisture-wicking layers (avoid cotton). Traction devices such as microspikes are highly recommended and may be required depending on conditions. Hiking poles are also recommended.

Important Safety Information: Participants should be prepared to spend approximately three hours outdoors in unpredictable winter weather. Additional information about trail conditions and required gear will be provided closer to the event.

This is a free event with a $10 suggested donation, but advance registration is required. Registration closes 24 hours before the event.

Please Note: Pets are not permitted at Catskill Center programs and events with the exception of trained service animals assisting their handlers.
