As you may know, Free The Seeds is a community powered event that helps build a sustainable and resilient future in our area through real seeds, real food, and real skills. We want everyone to have the opportunity to participate, so there is no cost to attend.

However, hosting an event of this magnitude (over 1500 attendees last year!), demands a significant investment of resources. This includes securing a suitable venue, covering seed packing supply expenses, and dedicating countless hours of paid staff time throughout the year. Additionally, the event relies heavily on the unwavering passion and dedication of our community members. Just this year, our volunteers have packed 18,000 packets of open-pollinated seeds we will give out!

FTS costs Land to Hand MT around $20,000 to organize and we gave away more than $45,000 worth of seeds for free last year! This event is a labor of love and we rely on volunteers, donations from attendees, booth fees, and event sponsorships from community businesses to put it on every year.
