The Marin Economic Forum (MEF), a public-private funded non-profit 501c (3) organization, is hosting the annual “Forecasting the Future” program on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. The event will start with a networking breakfast in the Courtyard at 8:00, followed by the program from 9:00-11:00 in the beautiful new Bill & Adele Jonas Center on College of Marin’s Indian Valley campus. Forecasting the Future is a program that has been held in Marin County for the last 10 years and has been the signature event to discuss Marin’s economy with representatives of business, public officials, non-profit leaders, and academics.

The 2022 event will focus on the first-ever economic strategy for the county of Marin currently led by MEF. The project, launched in November 2021 with a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) and sponsorship from the county, will deliver a strategy that will have been formed in an exciting, bottom-up process that includes input from a diverse group of stakeholders across Marin. During the Forecasting the Future program, MEF and the lead consultant producing the study will share early findings and likely initiatives of the plan, which is poised to be adopted by the county.

Forecasting the Future will also present a look at the upcoming challenges and opportunities in the economy as delivered by MEF’s Chief Economist Dr. Rob Eyler. Dr. Eyler, a notable expert on the North Bay economy, will discuss key national and state level policies and proposals that are likely to have an impact on businesses and employees in Marin in 2022 and beyond.

Forecasting the Future will also highlight Marin businesses that have been resilient during the COVID pandemic. These inspiring stories are sure to convince the audience that Marin County remains a place to start and grow a business, despite challenges.

Please note, according to College of Marin's protocol, all attendees must be masked and provide proof of vaccination upon entry. No cloth masks allowed; only surgical or higher (KN94/KN95/N95). Social distancing will be observed as much as possible.
