🐾💛 Help Freya Heal: Support Her Liver Shunt Diagnosis & Surgery 💛🐾 Meet Freya, a 1 year-old Great Dane puppy with a gentle soul and the kind of goofy grace only a giant baby can possess. Despite her playful spirit, Freya is facing serious health challenges—veterinarians believe she may be suffering from a liver shunt, a potentially life-threatening condition that affects blood flow and toxin filtration.

We’re doing everything we can to get her the care she needs, but her journey is complicated: 🩻 CT Scan – Estimated at $2,500 and currently delayed until October, though we’re on a waitlist hoping for an earlier opening 🔧 Surgery Prep – Costs could range from $2,000–$10,000, depending on her diagnosis and treatment needs

Diagnostic testing and monitoring -

Freya was diagnosed with an intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (PSS) in August 2025. Thanks to generous donors, we were able to confirm the diagnosis through a CT scan in September 2025.
Life-saving surgery

Freya was evaluated by CSU Veterinary Health in October 2025 and is considered an excellent candidate for surgery. CSU has had good success rates with both surgical options she qualifies for:
1. Minimally Invasive Procedure
  A wire is placed through the jugular vein to insert a coil into the shunt, embolizing (closing) the vessel.
2. Open Surgical Procedure
  A cellophane band is placed around the shunt to gradually close it over time.
Post-op recovery and medication
Ongoing veterinary care and comfort
