In Feb 2023, the Philadelphia Folksong Society Board of Directors announced the dire financial situation the organization found itself over $220,000 in debt. It was clear the Philadelphia Folk Festival could not go on in 2023, but it was unclear if it could ever come back.

Since then, this amazing community has come together to save the PFS and PFF! Just over one year later, the organization is paying off the last of it's remaining debt, and looking towards the future thanks to the commitment of the Board and Folksong Society members, volunteers and supporters. In just a few weeks we will all be back celebrating together at Old Pool Farm and we want to head home knowing we have done whatever we can to ensure the future for the Philadelphia Folksong Society and the Folk Festival for years to come!

With that goal in mind- we are launching a friendly competition.. the FOLK FEST FRIEND-A-THON.

If your Fest Fam wants to earn the title of the group that LOVES Fest the most- plus some other fun perks- gather them up and enter the fray! Together, we'll set the course for a sustainable future for the Philadelphia Folksong Society!

Rally your team to spread the word that the PFF is back but the PFS still needs our support! The Team that fundraises the most before August 9, 2024 will earn the ultimate bragging rights at the Fest, PLUS some fun perks at the 2024 festival including a shout-out from main stage, a pennant flag to show off your win (2nd & 3rd place mini-flags too) and for 1st place the key to your team's own exclusive porta-potty!

Your team can be your campsite, family, volunteer committee or any group of Fest lovers that want to work together! Make sure you coordinate with your group to determine your team captain so you are all unified under one team and not competing against yourselves!

Share your personal fundraising link to all your friends and family. Let them know why the Fest is so important to you and how excited you are to be heading back to Fest! Ask for their support to ensure the future of the PFS and PFF.

You'll also let your friends and family get a taste of what makes Fest so special- every donor will receive access to "Electric Man: the Movie" as a thank you for their support. This movie encapsulates the Fest spirit and may even inspire your friends to join you at Fest this year!

Then- keep sharing and checking your page to track your teams progress! PFS will periodically post updates on our social media channels but the more you check and share your page, the more successful your team will be!

The winning team will be determined on August 10, 2024. The winning team will be announced via email and social media on August 11, 2024 and on the stage of the PFF on Friday, August 16th. The PFS development team will coordinate with the winning team captain to deliver the perks at PFF.

All funds raised will support the general operating expenses of the Philadelphia Folksong Society.
