At Sustaining Way, we believe sustainability involves everyone, including our youngest generation. That's why our Steward Youth Education Program employs a multi-tiered strategy that inspires youth with different interests and commitment levels.

Our comprehensive approach includes:

🎒Steward Education Program (K-12)

We bring hands-on sustainability and leadership lessons to after-school programs in the community, local youth programs, field trips hosted at Annie's House, and more. With lessons rooted in our six areas of sustainability, Energy, Consumption and Waste, Food and Landscape, Social Sustainability, Environmental Sustainability, and Healthy Lifestyles, students explore how to care for themselves, their community, and the planet.

☀️Steward Fellows Program (Summer, High School)

Our paid career readiness program builds participants’ confidence by providing hard and soft-skills training in sustainable practices, financial stability, gardening, energy efficiency, teamwork, effective communication, problem solving, organizational skills, work ethic, and creativity. Steward Fellows complete environmental justice and community development projects that provide practical work experience and increase knowledge of sustainable practices. 🌿Steward Leader Program (Year-Round, Advanced Youth)

For those who want to take their passion further, this paid workforce development program offers a customized training plan, community development projects, and one-on-one mentorship for students in their designated interest field.
