My name is Tessa. I have been a lover and protector of turtles since childhood. I own two pet turtles of my own, and still get excited about every turtle I spot in the wild. I am lucky to have the perfect career as an environmental educator at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center. On a daily basis I engage with children and adults, with a focus on bringing them closer to nature. This job also gave me hands-on experience in the world of wildlife rehabilitation. So, to build upon my own passion for turtles, and my knowledge of turtle care and husbandry, I found a mentor in turtle rehabilitation who continues to guide me through rehabilitating injured wild turtles.

Three summers ago I earned my certificate as a Wildlife Custodian for the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection in the state of Connecticut. Wildlife rehabilitators provide all of their services on a volunteer basis; however, rehab often requires vet visits and incurs many other costs during continued care for patients. Donations made to me through this page will help cover these costs for turtles in my care and make a return to the wild possible.
