A Movement for Accountability and Reform

Since December 2024, students across Serbia have launched a historic wave of peaceful civic action calling for institutional reform, public accountability, and the rule of law. What began in response to a tragic structural failure has grown into one of the largest youth-led movements in recent history, with participation from over 90% of public universities and 55 high schools.

Why This Movement Matters

The movement was sparked by a devastating accident at the Novi Sad railway station, where 15 people lost their lives and two were permanently injured. The tragedy exposed deep-rooted governance failures:

Public infrastructure operating without oversight
Lack of accountability among officials
Peaceful citizens subjected to organized intimidation

What followed has become a broad, organized call for meaningful change—demanding:

Transparent institutions that serve the public interest
Accountability at all levels of government
Protection of civil rights and safety
Increased support for public education and civic participation
