Why We’re Fundraising

At Combat Recovery Foundation, safe shelter is not optional. It is essential.

Our basecamp at Cedar Park in Drake, Colorado serves as a living and healing space for veterans and first responders participating in our life-saving recovery programs. The canvas tents at basecamp are more than structures. They are essential living quarters where participants sleep, reflect, connect, and begin the difficult work of recovery together.

In mid-December, a sudden and severe windstorm swept across Colorado’s Front Range. With hurricane-force gusts exceeding 100 mph in nearby areas, the storm caused widespread destruction including downed trees, power outages, and significant property damage throughout Northern Colorado.

Cedar Park was not spared.

The powerful winds destroyed multiple large canvas tents at our basecamp, tearing fabric and twisting frames beyond repair. These tents were critical to our programming, and their loss directly impacts our ability to safely host participants in the months ahead.

Why This Matters

Combat Recovery Foundation exists to serve those who have served us, mainly veterans and first responders navigating trauma, PTSD, and suicidal ideation. Our outdoor, peer-supported programs are designed to remove barriers, foster connection, and provide a safe environment for healing.

Without these tents:

Participants lose safe, stable living quarters
Program capacity is reduced
Future recovery retreats and life-saving programming are at risk

Replacing these shelters is not a luxury. It is necessary to continue our mission.
