The Hockomock Area YMCA’s Food Access Program works with local partners to help make sure families in our communities have reliable access to healthy food. This work really grew during the pandemic and has become an important part of our Social Action Services.

Since the program began in 2016, we have:
• Given out more than 138,000 bags of groceries (valued at over $6.9 million)
• Distributed over 2.7 million pounds of food
• Served more than 586,000 meals to individuals and families

What We Do
We offer food pantry support two days a week, as well as monthly mobile pantry distributions for families who may not be able to get to us. We also send home weekly grocery bags for school-age children and are able to respond quickly when families face emergencies or crisis situations.

Our Commitment
Food insecurity is affecting more families in our 16 communities, and this increase also places added strain on local nonprofits and community organizations. We are proud to partner with many of them to meet this need. Our goal is simple: no one should go hungry. We know families are often forced to make hard choices between food, rent, bills, or medical costs, and we are here to help lighten that burden.
