I’m not a person of color. Can I attend?

Yes, everyone is welcome!

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

We welcome people of all ages! However, we ask that people under 18 attend with their parents, guardian, or a chaperone. The venue has security who will check your ID. The name on your ID must match the name of your registration. Your registration name is not public and will only be seen by security and event staff. Once inside, you may use any name (such as on a name tag).

Do I have to pay to attend?

The event is $5, with an optional tax-deductible donation to Sunbloom Media Arts Center, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, to help cover event costs and to support mentorship/scholarship programs for BIPOC devs. Please note that while donations are tax-deductible, ticket fees are not.

Will the event be photographed or filmed?

Yes, there may be photographers and/or videographers at the event, capturing footage. By attending, you consent to these images and videos being used in social media and marketing posts by the host organizations.

Do I need to be in the games industry to attend?

No! We welcome people from outside the industry. Whether you're a fan of games or just curious, you'll have a blast at our event.

What games will be available to play?

Several computers will be dedicated to curated games from recent GDoCExpo Directs. There will also be digital and analog games available to play, made by local LA devs!

Can I showcase my game?

Will food or beverages be available?

There will be food and beverages provided by Sunbloom & the ASU Game School at no additional cost!

Where do I park? Can I take public transportation?

Metered parking is available throughout the neighborhood and there are pre-paid parking lots nearby, ranging from $8 - $10 all day.

We recommend avoiding Joe’s parking. Park and Save is located at 1148 S. Broadway or Unified Parking.

The closest metro station is the 7th St station, which is a 20 min walk away.

Is there re-entry?

Yes, we will have wristbands available for re-entry. You must purchase a ticket to attend!

Who are the organizers?

Sunbloom Media Arts Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to grow the games industry into a safer and more equitable space by fostering community and providing opportunities for people of color. Our goal is to uplift those underrepresented in the games industry, offering spaces to showcase their talents and broaden their support networks. To achieve this goal, we run an industry-wide mentorship program for BIPOC mentees. Over the past three years we have paired 30+ talented mentees of color, from juniors to seniors, with industry mentors.

IndieCade is organized by an expansive team of dedicated individuals who truly believe that we can make an impact on the industry and ultimately the way the world plays, understands, and is impacted by games. To this end, IndieCade supports independent game development and a series of international events showcasing the future of games.

The ASU GAME School, located in Los Angeles, offers a Bachelor of Science in game studio production. This degree prepares students to lead creative teams in launching successful games and studios, combining hands-on experience with real-world industry connections and insight.
