Hey Y'all!

I’m Awa-Moon Barnett in 2025, I launched a fundraiser to open a Bookstore/3rd space/political education center in New York's Hudson Valley. In the past 1.5 years, we've traveled across New York popping up and selling books. In Spring 2026, we launched "Home Home Mobile Bookshop", a 7x12 ADA trailer that travels across Orange, Duchess, Ulster, Greene and Colombia Counties. Now, we're on the final leg of our journey and hope to raise the final $20,000 of our goal to reach $57,400. This money will be going to open a 6 month pop-up bookshop and 3rd space in Kingston, NY - running from December 2026 - May 2027.

About Me (Awa-Moon Barnett):

I was born and raised in the Hudson Valley. I'm a graduate of Rondout Valley High School, CUNY Brooklyn College, CUNY Baccalaureate for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies and the University of Delaware. In the past 5 years, I've published several articles on the Black Power and Civil Rights movement, including being a contributing author to A People's Guide to New York City (University of California Press, 2021). On my better days, I can be found riding my motorcycle, making films or support youth in their art practice!
