Black women-led nonprofits receive a disproportionately small share of philanthropic funding. This lack of support not only undermines our capacity to scale our impact but also perpetuates broader inequities within the space. This is why we are partnering to address this financial
gap as we combat the nature gap. We are inviting you, our partners, to intentionally invest in the communities creating equitable newlandscapes this Giving Tuesday.

We’re coming together to collectively raise $200K to increase our capacity to serve our communities. This is an opportunity to act in
solidarity with the efforts of Black women not only in the outdoor space, but an investment in the wellness of QTBIPOC communities. The

Brown Girls Climb

Brown Girls Climb (BGC) is a national non-profit which strives to facilitate mentorship, provide
access, uplift leadership, and celebrate representation in the outdoors and climbing for People of the
Global Majority*.

Our process is adaptive and emergent with a focus on building equitable and just relationships in all
the efforts we commit to, including meet-ups and mentorship, resource sharing and redistribution,
and employment and industry practices.

Edge Outdoors

EDGE Outdoors is a Black woman-led nonprofit (501c3) committed to addressing the invisibility
and underrepresentation of Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color (cis, trans, queer) in snow
sports. Through innovative programs and low to no-cost scholarships, we challenge systemic
barriers, foster inclusion, and empower leadership in outdoor and mountain spaces. Our mission
extends beyond introducing people to skiing and snowboarding. We aim to revolutionize the
landscape of snow sports by creating pathways for Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color to
participate, lead, or compete in snow sports.

HikeClerb

We are a decolonial BIWOC-led outdoor collective and 501c3 reimagining an equitable and inclusive
outdoors, for us by us founded by cultural organizer, Evelynn Escobar in 2017 in Los Angeles, CA.

We equip Black, Indigenous, and other racialized women, TGNC people with the tools, resources,
education, and experiences they need to collectively heal in nature.

We believe in the transformative power of healing in nature. We derive our positionality from the Black
feminist visionaries behind the Combahee River Collective. To quote, “We realize that the only people
who care enough about us to work consistently for our liberation are us. Our politics evolve from a
healthy love for ourselves, our sisters, and our community which allows us to continue our struggle
and work.” When we create spaces through an intersectional lens that ensure safe access in the
outdoors and care to Black and brown people, everyone benefits as a result.
