Glenda M. Taylor

October 24, 1947 - April 10, 2025

Glenda M. Taylor, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 10, 2025. She was born in Fort Pierce, Florida on October 24, 1947. She was the middle of three children, a brother 10 years older and a sister 10 years younger. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother. Glenda is survived by her husband of 56 years of marriage, Reverend James Taylor; daughter Erin Ramsey (Darren); granddaughters Taylor Ramsey and Tristin Ramsey; and sister Michelle Hernden (Ralph).

She graduated from Stetson University in Deland, Florida, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, her Master of Education in Reading and Gifted Education, and her Educational Specialist degree, which bridged the gap between a master’s degree and doctorate. She taught elementary school in Florida, Nevada and Wisconsin, and was an adjunct professor at Stetson University. She also worked with Open Court Publishing, SRA McGraw Hill and the Packard Humanities Institute. She loved children and instilled the love of reading in so many. She was an artist and member of the Beaux Arts of Central Florida. She was an excellent cook and loved to host dinner parties in their home.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Daytona Beach, Florida and was a member of the St. Mary’s Chapter of the Daughters of the King and member of the Flower Guild. At St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Deland, Florida, she was a founding member of the St. Martha’s Prayer Guild.

She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to so many. Glenda was affectionally known by family and friends as “Nana”. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
