For the past 10 years, Gender Unbound has created life-affirming community spaces for trans and intersex people in central Texas.

The hostile political landscape in Texas creates fear, isolation, disconnection, and hopelessness for trans and intersex people. This fight against our survival attempts to silence our voices and expression, erase our stories, and limit our imagination.

Gender Unbound champions transgender and intersex stories and art, spotlights our creativity and brilliance, and celebrates community abundance through artist workshops, galleries, performances, showcases, creative projects, and more.

We pay trans & intersex artists, we enable their creative visions, and we bring community together in life affirming, joy-centered spaces.

We need to keep going because we know the other side isn’t stopping. The work that Gender Unbound does literally keeps trans and intersex communities in Texas safe. At their most recent event just two weeks ago, a community member said:

We’re celebrating 10 years of history and asking for the resources to plan for 10 more! This gives Gender Unbound breathing room to plan ahead, support our artists and volunteers, keep our programs accessible, and invest in the behind-the-scenes infrastructure that makes all that joy possible.

$10,000 funds a year of basic programming costs -- FUNDED!

$5,000 covers an entire daylong public transgender & intersex event, like Transgender Day of Visibility
$3,000 covers 20 artist stipends for an entire showcase
$2,000 pays for a whole workshop or exclusive community event, like the Trans & Intersex Community SING!
$1,000 Replaces our tattered tables, tents, and equipment for events
$500 pays a local trans photographer to capture trans+intersex joy at events like Clash of the Queers: Lace Up!
$250 feeds volunteers at a day-long celebration event like Mini Fest (coming up 9/19!)
$150 stipends 1 transgender or intersex artist leading a workshop, like our Cloak Sewing Workshop
$50 covers 2 sliding scale tickets for a trans and intersex life-affirming, connective, joymaking event, like ceramics night

Trans and intersex people belong in Texas. Our events and community building help trans and intersex people thrive and want to stay. It is popular to raise money for crisis, rapid response, relocation, but there is not enough funding to help create the conditions for the people who have to or want to stay. Gender Unbound works to make Central Texas a wonderful place for trans and intersex people to call home.

Our organizing team has always and will always be made up entirely of trans and intersex artists. We foster, empower, and develop leadership skills and confidence in trans and intersex artists and community organizers in Central Texas.

We Keep Our Money in Community

We know how to make your dollar go faaaaaaar in trans and intersex community. Whenever possible, we hire and pay trans and intersex professionals, business owners, and community members. And of course, we only ever feature and pay trans and intersex artists for 100% of our programming. When you donate to us, your money stays in trans and intersex pockets for as long as possible.
