This April, mustang Ruby turns 15 years old. Her life has included tremendous challenges and suffering - born to a wild mare who had been captured from her home range, starting life in holding pens until being adopted as a youngster, and years later finding herself homeless and at risk of slaughter.

In 2017, Ruby came to us untrusting, wary, and distant. And rightfully so. But we made a promise to her - she was Home for Good. No matter what, she would be safe and cared for, for the rest of her life.

Since that time, Ruby has blossomed with loving care and positive human interactions. She has become an ambassador for discarded horses, showing just what is possible when we give them a chance.

Now, Ruby shows people who have experienced trauma what is possible through safety, trust, and understanding. She partners with veterans, youth and families, offering hope and connection to others who have experienced trials similar to her own. Participants experience improvements in mental health and personal development from their time with Ruby. Together, horses and humans grow in wellness so that ALL can thrive.
