About the Event

Gateway is proud to host The Mahjong Sonata, a spirited play day where friends, strategy, and community come together to support adults living with severe mental illness.

In a world that can feel isolating, connection and joy are powerful medicine. This special event brings people together over the timeless game of mahjong—creating laughter, friendly competition, and moments of harmony that support mental health recovery in our community.

Gather your friends, reserve a table, and enjoy an afternoon filled with:

• Friendly mahjong play and tournament fun
• Refreshing mimosas, wine, and elevated bites
• Beautiful swag bags for every player
• Special prizes throughout the day

Two Sessions Available

Morning Session
9:00 AM – Noon
Play begins at 9:30 AM

Afternoon Session
2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Play begins at 2:30 PM

Tables include four players, or you may purchase a solo seat and we will place you at a table.

Ticket Options

Come to Play Table

$600 per table ($150 per player)
Early Bird Price: $525 per table

Each Come to Play registration includes one table for four players and a complete mahjong setup, including:

• Mat
• Tiles
• Racks/sliders
• The latest National Mahjong League card
• Score card

Players may add additional Jokers or Blanks for an extra fee the day of the event.
(Standard tournament rules use 0 Blanks and 8 Jokers.)

Your registration also includes:

• Three rounds of gameplay
• Two drink tickets per player
• Elevated hors d’oeuvres
• Swag bag for each guest
• Tournament prizes and drawings

Bring Your Own Mahjong Set Table

$800 per table ($200 per player)
Early Bird Price: $725 per table

Play with the mahjong set you know and love.

This ticket reserves one table for four players, allowing you to bring your own mahjong set (tiles, mat, racks/sliders, and cards).

Players may use all Blanks and Jokers if desired.
(Standard tournament play typically uses 0 Blanks and 8 Jokers.)

Your registration includes:

• Three rounds of gameplay
• Two drink tickets per player
• Elevated hors d’oeuvres
• Swag bags
• Tournament prizes and drawings
