Dear Friends and Supporters of Heartward Sanctuary ~

It's hard to believe, but this week marks Heartward Sanctuary's five year anniversary! Over the past year, our community dances and events have been growing and deepening. It's been delightful to see so many new and familiar faces! We're really psyched about all that's sprouting and blooming here at the Sanctuary (including flax in ritual center!) And we're so grateful for everyone who's been contributing to this community endeavor through various means--service, financial sustenance, creative input and presence. It's such a blessing and honor to steward a Sanctuary where folks can gather through the seasons of life. Sharing space and practice is at the heart of weaving community.

We took a year off of major renovations to focus on events. But this year, we've amped up our efforts to increase beauty, functionality and comfort in the space. We’re excited to share an opportunity to make a big impact on the barn-temple this season. We’re launching a $16,000 flash fundraising campaign, but thanks to a generous anonymous matching grant, we only need to raise $8,000 from our community. Every dollar you give will be matched 1:1, effectively doubling your contribution.

Here’s what this fundraiser will help fund:

A Big Ass Fan [yes, that's the company name] Essence ceiling fan — this ain't no ordinary fan. It's a 10' diameter, low-speed, high-volume (LSVA) fan that will move some serious air to keep us all comfortable during events, and do it quietly. This will make a huge difference throughout the hot months. These fans don't come cheap, but they'll improve the useability of the space for decades to come. Estimated total cost with wiring and installation: $8K
Stained glass installation — We're beautifying the temple space with a gorgeous LARGE stained glass window that's been painstakingly restored by our crew (hats off to Djed and Eshu! and a local friend, Dobbs for the glass repair). Now it's all ready to go in, which means some professional help. Estimated total cost: $5K
Repair and Pulley system for the West-end bay doors — 'Tis the season to open the high big bay doors! This repair will improve the durability, functionality and aesthetics of the western openings. No more climbing up the woodwork to open and shut the doors! Est cost: $1.5k.
🧒 Bay Window safety features -- the windows that were installed last year have added so much light, fresh air and serenity to our collective experience. Now, we have a design for removable panels that will retain the fresh air and light, but make the space more amenable when we host youth. Est cost: $1.5k

As you may have noticed, these improvements are coming on the heels of other recent barn upgrades, including the new roof and improved driveway. Each of these upgrades had to be outsourced to professionals, as will the ones above. We've consulted with Red Dirt Design Build for the bigger upgrades above as these projects are too big (and high) for our home crew. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, and with your help, we can continue to make the barn-temple space and greater grounds even more welcoming, functional and beautiful for everyone.
