Preparing Olive-Harvey students for the jobs of tomorrow . . . .

Olive-Harvey College is preparing students for the 110,000 transportation, distribution and logistics (TDL) jobs coming to the region in the next decade, utilizing its recently opened $45 million Transportation, Distribution and Logistics Center.

But in order to create the qualified and competitive candidates for these TDL jobs, financial support for students through scholarships is often needed.

Jason Gary was eager to learn more about careers in the up-and-coming cannabis sector, so when Olive-Harvey College launched the Basic Certificate in Cannabis Dispensary Operations last spring, he knew it was for him. He applied for the Workforce Equity scholarship and was approved for the program.

In addition to the scholarship and the support he received from his instructors, Jason also worked with the Career Planning and Placement Center for professional development training and interviewed with OHC employer partners. Ultimately he accepted a job offer with MOCA Modern Cannabis, where he works as a cannabis sales representative. Long term, Jason would like to establish and operate a cannabis growth facility.
