Let’s Build a Safe Space for Every Child to Play, Learn, and Grow 🛝🌱

In Reynosa, Mexico, hundreds of children live in and around the Senda de Vida shelter, where childhood and community are constantly shifting.

Some families are here for months as they seek safety and a path forward. Others have settled nearby, putting down roots in the neighborhood that has grown around the shelter’s walls. And some children have always lived here, watching the crises of migration flow past their doorstep.

Through every season of change, one thing remains the same: children need a safe place to play.

That’s why we’re building the Senda 1 Park — the first playground designed for every child in this community.

A Community-Built Space for Joy 🎈

Through Solidarity Engineering’s Play & STEM Education program, we’re working hand-in-hand with our partners at Senda de Vida and the local community to build something lasting: a space that reflects the creativity, resilience, and imagination of this community.

With designer Cas Holman, known for her work championing open-ended play, we’re creating a playground that sparks curiosity, movement, and connection.

The groundwork is already in place (literally 🚧). Now, we’re ready to raise the structures, plant the trees, and open the gates - and we need your help to finish it!

Our Shared Vision 🌈

Together, we're building:

🪜 Swings, climbers, and rope courses for adventure and movement
🎭 A stage and mud kitchen where imagination meets playing in the dirt 🌱 (our personal favorite!)
🌿 Shade structures, seating, and a rain garden that care for people and the planet 🌎

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to bring this vision to life. Every dollar goes directly toward construction and ongoing care for this space.
