Regardless of Income, People Need Their Pets...

Your pet has been your best friend for years. When things got rough during the pandemic, your pet was always there for you providing comfort and healing even in the darkest moments. You both depend on each other - the connection you have forged is mutual and unlike any other. But what would happen if you didn't have the resources to care for your pet anymore and didn't have anyone to help?

Sounds like a horrible scenario, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, there are people that face this situation often - and many are right in our community. The reality is that people lose their jobs, their homes, face serious health issues, and a variety of other real-life issues that put them in this unfortunate position. That's where we come in.

Second Chance created its "Living Better Together" programs to help address these issues and keep pets and their people together. The past few unprecedented years have highlighted the importance of pets in our lives as they have provided social, emotional and physical support to people when it has been most needed during this pandemic. Our programs work to keep pets and people connected. How do we do it?

How We Keep Pets & People Together

Second Chance's Community Medical Program eliminates the economic barriers so many families face with veterinary care while creating a pathway to additional critical pet services. These programs include low-cost behavioral training and our Tri-County Pet Pantry, which circulated over 40,000 pounds of free pet food and supplies to families in need last year. Our medical program, available to the Tri-County region, offers free medical exams and low cost veterinary services such as spay/neuter, vaccinations, micro-chipping, dental care, bloodwork, diagnostics, end of life care, and more. It keeps pets healthy and with their families. Click here to read more about these community services.

Through September of this year, we have already provided medical services to 410 pets, many of which had never been to a veterinarian before. The demand for these services is greater than we can fill with our current funding. Keeping pets with their people makes a difference and we are asking for your support.

How to Double Your Investment

Our Community Medical Program makes such an impact and we are so passionate about it that our Board President, Chaucey Edwards, personally committed $5,000 and obtained another $5,000 commitment from her employer (thank you Medtronic!) to put up a total of $10,000 matching dollars for this funding drive.

This means that all donations toward this funding drive will be matched, until we reach $10,000, from now until November 12th! With this funding boost we can respond to the increasing demand and bring more services to pets and people in need.

Please consider a donation of any size, knowing it will be doubled, to support our programs. $20,000 will go a long way for our animals. Also please spread the word of this funding campaign and share it with others!

UPDATE!

We did it! AND we are going to do it again!

With the generous and uplifting response we received to our $10K Matching Funding Challenge we reached our $10K goal in just two weeks time! We are so incredibly grateful - big heartfelt thanks goes out to all who participated!

AND - as we have another 2 weeks to our November 12th goal our amazing Board Chair, Chaucey Edwards, wants to keep the momentum going and is offering an additional $5K if we can raise $5K more by November 12th! We can do this.
