On November 22nd, an explosion occurred in the 1100 block of Bayard Street, across from Carroll Park, injuring three of our Pigtown neighbors. One home has collapsed and another is damaged. As families are displaced and face potentially costly medical bills, we ask that you support them in this time of need.

For Giving Tuesday, Citizens of Pigtown is raising funds for short term cash assistance to the neighbors hurt and displaced by this event. While insurance may cover property loss and some expenses, funds can be slow to be distributed or may not cover all the costs associated with this traumatic event. Citizens of Pigtown is working with Councilwoman Porter, the Red Cross, and Paul's Place to get assistance to these families. While temporary housing, clothing, and food from local and national organizations will cover the essentials, a small influx of cash assistance will help cover other costs for these individuals and their families.

Since Citizens of Pigtown is a non-profit, Givebutter does not collect additional fees from money raised. 100% of funds donated will be evenly distributed to the families impacted. We will keep this campaign open until December 16th to provide a rapid response and immediate cash assistance.
