What is ZTTK?

ZTTK is a rare and complex neurodevelopmental disorder caused by mutations in the SON gene. Individuals with ZTTK (whom we fondly refer to as our "SON-Shines" 🌞) face significant medical challenges. These include intellectual disabilities, speech difficulties, mobility issues, seizures, poor feeding, and multiple organ system complications. Discovered in 2016, ZTTK currently has no known cures or treatments.

What is the Funding for?

All funds raised through this event will be directed toward the development of treatments and potential cures for ZTTK. Due to the rarity of ZTTK, the burden of fundraising for critical research often falls on the families affected. The SON-Shine Foundation, a parent-led non-profit, is dedicated to accelerating research and improving the lives of those living with ZTTK.
