As 2024 comes to an end, we are counting on YOU to help NAMI Northern Lakes provide needed mental health services in our community. As a peer-driven organization, we know what it is like to live with or love someone living with a mental illness, to navigate the sometimes too complex systems we need to get help, and how to become empowered to advocate for ourselves and others. We know that peer support is an evidence-based part of successful mental health teams, reducing re-hospitalization rates, increasing the likelihood of staying engaged with other providers, and improving outcomes in recovery. With your help, recovery from mental illness IS possible.

We also recognize that good things start with understanding and educating others on the realities of mental illness, the impact it has on families and overall health, and how to help in a mental health crisis is necessary to end the stigma of mental illness. Because of you, we are able to offer educational programs to youth, adults, and community members at no cost, leading to earlier intervention, improved self-efficacy, and a compassionate support system.

NAMI Northern Lakes represents the local voices of lived experience at decision-making tables, advocating for improved systems, true mental health parity, and research-backed practices and policies. We also participate in advocacy at the state level; NAMI Wisconsin Raise Your Voice Clubs give students the opportunity to share their stories with legislators and NAMI Northern Lakes participates in a statewide coalition with a broad range of stakeholders to create policy recommendations to improve the lives of those impacted by mental illness throughout Wisconsin.
