Green Tara Drupchö Retreat: Awaken the Heart of Enlighenment

The Green Tara Drupchö retreat is an authentic Tibetan Buddhist lineage practice which guides us into the heart of Arya Tara—the embodiment of enlightened activity, swift compassion, protection, and the liberating feminine principle. Tara is the Mother of all Buddhas, the Swift Liberator, and a manifestation of awakened compassion in female form.

This sacred retreat is an invitation to awaken sacred feminine energy within, cultivate the wish to benefit all beings with Tara's swift, fearless compassion, and connect with the enlightened blessings of this beloved deity.

Through the group recitation of the Green Tara sadhana, Ven. Drupon Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche guides us in a traditional accomplishment retreat in which we meditate on Tara's enlightened form through visualization, mantra accumulation, ritual, and collective practice. This group effort supports our own path and generates immense merit, which we dedicate for the well-being of all sentient beings.

The Seven Supplications to Tara
While residing at the Echung Cave, the great master Jigten Gönpo beheld the faces of seven forms of Tārā. He supplicated them with these seven verses, renowned as A Prayer to Tārā: A Sevenfold Supplication for Protection, which carry great blessing.

The Praise to the 21 Taras

A central part of the Green Tara Drupchö is the chanting of the Praises to the 21 Taras, an ancient and powerful liturgy that honors the 21 emanations of Tara—each one embodying a unique aspect of enlightened activity and protection. These sacred verses invoke Tara’s swift assistance in overcoming fears, illnesses, spiritual obstacles, and dangers—both visible and unseen.

Reciting these praises with devotion is said to bring swift blessings, healing, and the removal of hindrances on the path. Each Tara is visualized in a specific color and posture, expressing her unique energy, and activity.

During the retreat, the Praise to the 21 Taras will be integrated with mantra recitation, visualization, and ritual offerings, creating a vibrant field of compassion and activity that benefits all beings.

Join us for a 5-day Vajrayana retreat dedicated to the Exalted Female Buddha Green Tara, the Swift Protectress and embodiment of enlightened compassionate action. This retreat is in the Drikung Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.

Our Green Tara sadhana is a profound and beautiful text compiled for retreat practice by Drupon Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, available in both Tibetan and English for daily chanting and practice. With two sessions daily, in person and via Zoom—morning and afternoon—you are warmly invited to engage in this transformative, healing, and joyful practice of the beloved Mother of the Buddhas.
