After recent immigration enforcement activity in the Twin Cities, many families have lost their critical income and are facing immediate housing insecurity. Stable housing is the foundation for everything—school, work, medical care, and legal follow-ups.

We are raising money to ensure our families are able to pay rent while ICE occupies Minneapolis. We believe in the power of this community to take care of each other. We will be releasing funds as they come to families that have expressed need.

How funds will be used (in order of priority):

Rent and any late fees
Utilities (electricity, gas, water, etc.)
Cash stipend for basic necessities, including groceries, etc.

For safety, names are private; our organizers will find the safest way to verify payment. If we exceed the goal, remaining funds will be extended to other sanctuary schools in Minneapolis with greater financial need.

Update: $30,000 was been distributed to pay rent for families in the month of January, $102,000 for the month of February. The number of families requesting support has tripled and we had expected the need for February to be $60,000, but it was far greater. Given the increase in need in the past month and inevitable continuing need we are raising our goal to cover at least March rent.

We will continue to manage our goal to cover currently paid out support, plus currently identified demand, plus some additional demand for the following month, because at this point, we do not know when our families will be safe again and can return to work.
