We are planning our inaugural performance as Hope and Anchor Opera by presenting Hugo Weisgall's one act opera "The Stronger" as part of the PVD Fringe festival in July of 2025. We are excited to participate in this festival that brings more theater to Rhode Island.

"The Stronger" is based on a play by August Strindberg and centers around a woman sitting down in a cafe on Christmas Eve with her perceived romantic rival. It explores the emotions of a "happily married" woman as she confronts not only her dining companion but also herself.

Featuring sopranos Olivia Rich, Letita Stevens and Krista Wilhelmsen, our production of The Stronger will be accompanied by two concert scenes: Francis Poulenc's "La Dame de Monte Carlo" and Ludwig van Beethoven's "Ah! Perfido." The concert will be presented in English, French and Italian with projected English supertitles.
