On Monday, June 2nd 4 year old Magic was issued an alert with only 3 days to live due to labored breathing. She was quickly approved to be taken out to get private veterinary care, where we stepped into action. Not knowing exactly what was going on, we could not let this poor girl suffer in the shelter or die in a cold cement kennel.

Magic's Story:

Magic came into the shelter with her sister Sky after their owner passed away. Before she got sick, Magic was 70 lbs of pure love and was quickly becoming a volunteer favorite. She was sweet and affectionate, and love staying close to their handler and soaking up all the affection.

What Magic Needs:

Magic was admitted to the hospital after refusing to eat or drink water for a few days, which means she was not taking medicine. She has already lost some weight, and we were desperate to help get her the care she needs. We rushed her to the amazing people at VEG, who got to work taking X Rays and swabs to see what is going on. It turns out, this sweet girl has pneumonia. She thankfully does not need oxygen, but is very dehydrated and needed round the clock care. We are VERY happy to report that she ate about half her food overnight as well, a sure sign she is on the mend.

Magic is not yet out of the hospital, but we are looking for help to cover her medical bills so that we can help Magic and other dogs like her out of the shelter, and get the medical care they desperately need!
