Housing, Equity & Advocacy Resource Team (HEART)'s Mission

HEART works to prevent displacement and keep families and pets together by addressing housing insecurity through advocacy, direct support, and resource navigation. We believe housing is a human right and that pets are family.

What Your Gift Will Do

Every dollar brings hope when it matters most. Every dollar raised this Giving Tuesday will fund critical services that bridge housing and animal wellbeing, including:

Housing Navigation & Advocacy

Help families find pet-friendly emergency and permanent housing.
Provide Fair Housing guidance and ESA letter support to protect pets from eviction.
Connect clients to affordable housing registries provide legal resources.

Disaster Relief for Families with Pets

Deliver rapid response support during wildfires, raids, and other crises.
Cover temporary boarding or supplies for displaced families.
Offer emergency housing referrals for households with pets.

Access to Pet Supportive Services

Share local low-cost spay/neuter and vaccine resources to reduce future expenses.
Provide behavior support referrals to prevent surrender.
Connect families to mobile clinics and community vet programs.

Systemic Change

Advocate for housing policies that protect pet owners.
Build partnerships with shelters, housing agencies, and legal aid organizations.
Develop toolkits and training for service providers on housing + pet equity.
