At Home For Her: Keys to a New Beginning

Right here in North Texas, a life-changing movement is being built for young women who simply need a safe place to breathe, heal, grow, and begin again.

Her Homes Housing & Resources was created from pain, purpose, and lived experience. Founded by Ms. A’sha Scott a woman who once faced homelessness, instability, and overwhelming life challenges as a young mother — this vision was born from understanding what it feels like to need support, guidance, and a second chance.

For over 10 years, through mentoring and community outreach, we have worked with thousands of girls and young women struggling with:

homelessness
foster care transitions
domestic violence
teen motherhood
poverty
low self-esteem
lack of family support
depression and instability

And while mentorship changed lives, we realized something critical:

Healing cannot fully happen without safe and stable housing.

That realization gave birth to Her Homes Housing & Resources — a structured transitional living program for young women ages 17–25 designed to provide not just shelter, but true transformation.

Our Goal

We are raising $150,000 to secure and operate a beautiful transitional living home in Anna, Texas for the next 3 years while we prepare for our future permanent campus and housing community.

This home will support up to 6 young women at a time through our intensive 24-month “I AM HER” program — a program focused on rebuilding lives mentally, emotionally, spiritually, financially, and professionally.

This is not a party house.
This is not temporary shelter with no direction.

This is structure.
This is accountability.
This is healing.
This is preparation for independent living.

Each resident will have:

Mentorship and emotional support

A safe environment built around peace, discipline, and growth

We are committed to maintaining a clean, peaceful, and well-managed property. A professional cleaning and maintenance crew will help maintain the grounds and shared spaces, while residents will also participate in daily household responsibilities that teach accountability, teamwork, and independent living skills.

Why This Matters

Many of the girls entering our program are not lazy.
They are not hopeless.
They are simply carrying burdens too heavy to carry alone.

Some are aging out of foster care.
Some are escaping unsafe environments.
Some are young mothers trying to survive.
Some have never experienced stability a day in their lives.

Her Homes exists to change that.

We believe one safe home can change generations.

And while this property is our beginning, it is not our ending.

Over the next three years, our mission is to strengthen our program, establish long-term sustainability, and prepare to transition into a permanent housing community that will continue serving young women for generations to come.

The journey of Her Homes Housing began a year and a half ago, an organization of hope for girls emerging from difficult circumstances. Alongside this, I founded Divas Build Futures Inc. an organization dedicated to the empowerment and motivation of young women. Through our programs, we have worked tirelessly for 10 years with these incredible girls, focusing on building their confidence, life skills, and personal hygiene. However, we soon realized that our efforts needed a critical foundation—safe, nurturing housing for girls transitioning out of foster care, teen mothers, and those recovering from domestic violence or family crises.

This is where Her Homes Housing comes into play. We envision a safe haven, a five-bedroom, four-bathroom home that will serve as the first property in our mission to create a supportive environment for these young women. This home will be more than just a roof over their heads; it will be a place where they can heal: spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally. They will learn essential life skills, such as budgeting and financial literacy, and develop positive, lasting relationships that will support them in their journey.

Why This Program Is Needed

Across Texas, especially in Collin County and North Texas, many young women are struggling with homelessness, unstable housing, domestic violence, foster care transitions, and teen motherhood.

Important Statistics

Foster Care & Homelessness

Around 1,200 youth age out of foster care in Texas every year.
Nearly 30% experience homelessness within 18 months.

Teen Mothers

Nearly 35% of teen mothers in Texas experience homelessness or unstable housing after giving birth.

Young Women & Homelessness

Young women ages 18–24 are one of the fastest-growing homeless populations.
Many are escaping abuse, unsafe homes, or family instability.

Collin County Housing Crisis

Since 2020, Collin County has seen:

rising housing costs
increased homelessness
higher demand for emergency and transitional housing

Young women and single mothers are among the most vulnerable.

Domestic Violence

About 1 in 3 women in Texas experience domestic violence during their lifetime.
Many women leave unsafe homes with nowhere stable to go.

Education Impact

Only about 45% of homeless youth graduate high school compared to 84% of students with stable housing.

Without stability, many young women struggle to finish school, maintain employment, and build successful futures.

Our program, “I Am Her,” will span 24 months while the girls and women are in the program and provide a comprehensive support system. Each month, participants will receive guidance in securing employment, accessing educational resources, and exploring vocational training opportunities.
