At the Healing and Justice Center (HJC), we’re building a world where wellness and justice go hand in hand. HJC, a worker-directed nonprofit, is dedicated to uplifting BIPOC individuals and communities through programs, advocacy, and a holistic approach to healing that includes emotional, mental, and physical well-being.

Our 2024 Impact

Healing Initiatives

This year, we’ve provided a range of community-centered healing programs, from trauma-informed workshops to universal basic income training, alongside restorative events like the Inland Empire Youth Immigrant Coalition's film screenings and healing sessions. In collaboration with Mend Collaborative, we led movement-based healing workshops inside carceral institutions, bringing hope, resilience, and a sense of dignity to those impacted by the justice system. Through these partnerships and our self-attunement series, we’re making healing accessible to all

Supporting Parents and Families

We launched parenting workshops with partners like YMCA Long Beach, empowering parents with nonviolent communication and trauma-informed parenting strategies that strengthen family bonds and foster resilient children.

Promoting Digital Equity

In our fight for digital justice, we helped pass digital discrimination bills across five cities in Southeast LA, led community storytelling training, and contributed to statewide digital equity coalitions to ensure that everyone has equal access to the digital world.

Advocacy and Housing Justice

Our team is on the frontlines of advocacy, supporting housing initiatives and legislation that protects vulnerable communities. From attending Housing NOW Advocacy Day to partnering in annual summits, HJC is committed to safeguarding housing rights and fostering healthy communities.
